Shane is relatively new to the world of aerial. 6 years ago he crossed over from the world of gymnastics and everything spiralled from there. In 2013 he decided to resign from his job of Acting Principal of a secondary school and to take a career break. He went on to qualify as a High Level Circus Teacher at the Ecole Nationale de Cirque (Montreal) specialising in Hand to Hand and Doubles Trapeze in 2014.

From there, he came back to Ireland and set up TAKING FLIGHT, a studio in Dublin city centre where classes and facilities continue to grow (where they provide classes in floor and aerial acrobatics). He is also doing a PhD in Arts Practice, focusing on the intersection of creativity, education and high-level students of circus.
